This year’s event will be held at the Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews www.fairmont.com/standrews The hotel offers the perfect mix of superb conference and leisure facilities that will ensure our delegates have every opportunity to meet new colleagues catch up with old ones in a suitable yet informal and comfortable atmosphere.
The Dinner and Conference
The Dinner will be held on the Thursday evening – 30th October, followed by the conference on the 31st October. The dinner provides the ideal opportunity for corporate entertaining and this year we are delighted to have the comedian Jo Cauldfield confirmed as our after dinner speaker with a more serious input on the economy beforehand.
The dinner attracts an influential guest list, and provides a key platform for networking and socialising with influencers from Scottish and UK business. This annual conference regularly attracts 150 – 200 Scottish business leaders and is one of the highlights of the business calendar. The event is open to all business leaders and organisations as well as IoD members and is ideal for those who are keen to hear important, inspirational and current speakers, and have the opportunity to meet with like-minded corporate leaders and pick up practical tools to help grow and develop their business.
Theme for 2008 - “Shaping the Future – Preparing for Success”
The conference will explore the issues surrounding doing business in the Scotland of the future, with key messages from a range of leading Scottish and international business people. Successful economies require a competitive business environment - one that is friendly to enterprise and attractive to entrepreneurs, inward investors and skilled migrants.
Scotland's business leaders are the key driver of increased productivity, employment growth, competition and innovation, but with an ageing population and increased global competition there are a number of challenges that we need to consider for a successful future. Anticipating the correct strategy to adopt to face up to these challenges will be vital to the future of companies, the economy and the country.
