Deaf Connections - New Trustee Required

Deaf Connections is the oldest organisation in the world providing specialist services for adult Deaf people who use British Sign language as their first language.

From our base in Glasgow, we provide a diverse range of services including: sign language interpreting, multimedia translation, care at home, health information, numeracy & literacy, advocacy and information. We also support the Deaf community by providing social facilities.

We have recently undertaken a skills audit of our Trustees and we have identified the need to recruit new Trustees with a specific skill and interest in accounting, investments, financial and business planning and change management and would be happy to speak to anyone who feels they might be able to help.

The level of input required depends upon how involved the Trustees want to be but a minimum would be six meetings a year of approximately two hours duration. These meetings take place in the early evening.

Like all charities, we need to change our culture and acquire a more business approach to everything we do. We need help to do this and a strong Board of Trustees with a wide range of skills and experience is essential.

If you feel you have these or would simply like to find out more about our work then please contact Gordon Chapman, Chief Executive on 0141 420 2802 or email him at: gordon@deafconnections.co.uk
